Dealing With Knockbacks

If there is anybody on this planet that has dealt with a numerous amount of knockbacks in life, it’s me. You think things are finally on a role and you’re actually getting somewhere with something and then out of nowhere it all comes crashing down in a big pile of sh*t. Yeah, I getcha. And then when you’re sitting there in that “big pile of sh*t” , You feel low, depressed, a failure and just absolutely crap.

This has happened to me so many times, I can’t even count.

But the thing is, in life, you NEED those knockbacks. Yeah, I know, it’s rubbish, but unfortunately, they have to happen several times in our lives. The reason being is so that we learn from them and gain experience from them and become more motivated and determined by them.
Imagine going through life with no bumps, no blips or glitches. Everything runs smoothly and nothing goes wrong or off-course. I mean, yeah, it sounds like a nice, easy way to live, but also BORING, SAFE & INEXPERIENCED. You need that balance. You need just the right amount of good AND bad.

I watched a video somewhere on Facebook. A man was doing some kinda inspirational speech to some people. He described life as a cake (I promise I’m going somewhere with this). He went on to say that you wouldn’t eat the ingredients on their own, right? Like a raw egg, a handful of flour and a dollop of butter. Nah. But once you mix them all together, they create something f*cking amazing! (Cake is the sh*t).
It’s exactly the same with life. If you mix together a little bit of disappointment, plenty of failures, awful relationships, quite a lot of hurt and sadness, they create your life. They create an experienced life. A well-lived life.

There’s a reason why we have to go through the sh*tty knockbacks that we do. The obstacles I’ve had in my life have made me the person I am today. You just have to look at what has happened and think to yourself “Right, ok. This isn’t what I wanted, but I’m gonna deal with it and carry on. What’s the next step? I can’t give up, I need to keep going”.
Take a few deep breathes, let your mind comprehend what is happening and then just keep pushing forward. It’s ok to feel defeated, it’s ok to feel like a complete failure…

…But you won’t be that way forever. This won’t last the rest of your life, it’s just part of it. Part of the journey (Cringe). And then you’ll look back on these blips and understand why they had to happen.

The main thing is that you don’t give up. Let yourself have that time to be sad and defeated, but just know that it’s not the end of the world and life still goes on. The sun still rises and sets every day. You’re still breathing, you’re still capable of living an amazing life, just sometimes, you need to take a few detours, a couple of unexpected turns.

And it’s not always about where you end up, it’s about the journey.
