All these celebrities. All these successful people. Do you think they made it first try? We could think of them as so insanely amazing and inspiring, smart, clever and legendary, but DID they get there right at the start?
Of course they didn’t. They’re not robots. They’re not perfect. They’re human. They f*cked things up before they made it. And it’s so motivational to hear that. It’s uplifting to know that even the successful ones struggled…and probably still do, sometimes.
So let’s review, shall we?
Oprah Winfrey got fired from her first job on TV as an anchor. Imagine…OPRAH. Getting fired. What?
Ok this one is unimaginable. STEVEN SPIELBERG was turned down by a Cinematic Arts University. Are you joking? The guy made E.T. He made JAWS. wtf. War of the worlds, Hook. And don’t even get me started on Jurassic Park. The guy that create those incredible movies….did NOT get into a university. How? What was wrong with those people?!
OK! What about this absolutely mental one?….. Walt Disney was declined by a Newspaper Editor, apparently he wasn’t “creative” enough. Bullshit.
J K Rowling. The lady who literally invented magic. She was broke, a single mother and depressed, all whilst trying to write a novel (which would soon become, in my opinion, the greatest series of books ever), all whilst still studying. MAD.
Michael Jordan, who is literally THE most well-known basketball player of all time, was cut from his team back in high school. CUT. FROM HIS TEAM. HOW?!
Elvis Presley was told that he “ain’t going nowhere”. Yeah, ok, I smell bullshit. Yet again.
It’s SO comforting that these people, who have gained so much success, started off with extremely low, confidence-knocking moments in their lives. And yet, somewhere along the way, they MADE it. Like, they actually made it, one way or another. How amazing.
This proves that whatever you’re going for, you can get. And, yes, you may feel like your life is at the lowest point it can get, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be successful in life. It doesn’t mean you can’t make something of yourself. And it definitely doesn’t matter WHEN you make it. J K Rowling was 31 when she wrote Harry Potter. Like….what the hell was she doing when she was in her 20’s?!
There is time. There is always enough time to make it.
